ASA Endowment Fund

Why support the ASA?

The ASA is the peak national organisation representing the rights and interests of Australia’s literary creators. ASA members participate in the organisation’s structure and activities through their annual membership. Today, however, as well as the opportunities delivered by digital innovation, new challenges to creative practice and the welfare of those who have committed their lives to literature are immediate concerns that require the ASA to be the strongest possible advocate for authorship.

In order to meet these challenges more effectively, we look beyond the immediate membership of the ASA and seek the involvement of all who love writing in its multiplicity of forms and formats and pleasures.

With your material contribution as an ASA Endowment Fund Patron, the ASA will be better placed to strengthen Australia’s literary culture and build a more supportive environment for Australia’s writing practitioners. Your help will allow the ASA to:

  • Promote the viability of Australian authors and the protection of a distinctly Australian literature;
  • Fund new and more prizes and deliver more mentorships and scholarships for emerging and established writers;
  • Support advocacy campaigns to protect the rights and interests of authors;
  • Protect the legal rights of authors and illustrators;
  • Commission original research on cultural, industry and practitioner matters.
